Hello! Today, I thought it would be fun to show you my writing space 😊
This space has allowed me to write countless school papers, blogs, poetry, books, and more. So, come on in, let me show you around!
Am I supposed to say “This is where the magic happens”?
All the items on this photo are super cheap, because I’m a very frugal person. From the lamp to the desk to the guitar, nothing is more than $150 (except maybe for the laptop!).
As “decor,” I simply used some yarn and clothes pins to hang up pictures and stuff that is important to me at this time 😊
Lots of music on my lamp 😊
My lamp has two wind chimes (sun/moon celestial theme) and a Peruvian wind instrument that I don’t play very well 😏 Every time I turn my lights on, music happens, and it is so very soothing!
Belly dance workouts are the best!
A close up by my lamps shows the other wind chime, a photo of me and my guys, and some DVDs. What are these? These are World Dance New York belly dance workout DVDs, and they are awesome!
I just grab one from my wall and pop in it my laptop when I feel like moving a bit 😁
These keep me inspired and focused
To my left on my desk I keep a list of virtues that I value for myself, and a really cute angel figurine. It’s not biblical, just something that brings me peace and is lovely to look at 😊
To the right is my tiny speaker. Don’t let the size fool you, those speakers are amazing!
My in-laws are amazing people!
Right behind my laptop there’s a few items. Tape~ self explanatory. The box is full of different types of pens. The toy has my cat’s whiskers (RIP Bailey) and has sentimental value.
The hourglass you might have seen before! It is 30 minutes and I use it when I want to keep focused for 30-60 minutes at a time. I also use it to stand up every 30 minutes and stretch my legs.
The note is from my in-laws. They left it along with a gift last time they visited. They are proud that I graduated 😊 The card is a Bible verse (yes, I am Christian! 😊).
1999 is considered “vintage” now! 😭
This sun/moon celestial art is a sticker. It’s 1999 vintage (ack!). I have a lot of memorabilia/items from 1996-1999 because I was a teen back then, and I have A TON of nostalgia for that time.
You’ll see more celestial and late-90’s items if you stick around 😉
Dollar Tree cat calendars make the world go ’round.
Self-explanatory here~ I love cats, I love that guy 😝
Cats, cats, cats!
Every desk needs a coaster, and it might as well be shaped like a cat. That’s what they say, right? People say that? 😁
The ruler has a sassy Andy Warhol quote (I love quotes, if you haven’t noticed!).
Don’t pay any attention to what they write about you.
JUST MEASURE IT IN INCHES.”
– Andy Warhol
An important quote, especially in today’s opinion-heavy climate!
Here is my battery-operated, automatic candle and another cat! This little guy is a glass cat, originally from a salt and pepper set. The round thing~ another speaker.
And my hero! Sarah McLachlan is such a huge inspiration in my life. I like to keep a photo of her nearby. I want to dedicate myself to my writing as deeply as she has dedicated herself to music 💕
Back and forth between these two!
The strap is Fender, the guitar is not. LoL! I’d been searching for a small acoustic to fit my body, and also one less than $300~ because I am a beginner and I also drag my guitars everywhere.
And finally I found a small acoustic for $150 and I love it!! I’ve been learning to play through YouTube and other online sources (like Justin Guitar).
Some days I go back and forth between my guitar and my laptop. Instead of grabbing my phone, which distracts me from writing, I pluck a few chords while thinking over whatever I’m writing. It’s soothing and it keeps my mind on my stories.
Bibliophile: (n) a person who collects or has a great love of books.
And in my desk cubby hole, I keep a lot of my writing books. I left the photo pretty big so that hopefully you can see the titles.
The Awe-Manac is amazing guys! If you love writing prompts and creative writing in general, that book is freakin’ excellent! 💕
And last, but not least…
Everybody needs a junk drawer!
My junk drawer! 😂 Scissors, Mentos, an old computer mouse… These are things that are just… there 😁
Also, the watch is another 1998 nostalgic item. It is a Rugrats Movie Burger King watch 😁 I love it!!
What does your writing space look like? If you do a blog tour, please let me know in the comments~ I’d love to check it out!
Take care and write on,
