Hello! If you’re a new/indie author, like me, you probably know that there’s a lot of uphill battles for us. Advertising our own work, juggling writing and life, and dipping our toes in queries are just a few of the things we deal with.
But there’s also some cool stuff that we, as new writers, can get away with 😉
Many new writers cringe at the thought of genre writing. You know, writing a romance, or cozy mystery, or sci fi, or thriller… that has a specific plot line, follows a certain formula, and includes familiar tropes.
A trope is a character we’ve seen, over and over again, who has the same general characteristics each time. We mostly find them in genre books, where they actually fit in quite nicely.
Sure, we should avoid tropes, or at least make them unique. But, as a reader, there are some tropes that I just simply love!
